Do you shy away from precut fabrics because they seem to have off names and shapes?
The Oz Material Girls Australia sell a wide selection of precut fabrics including Fat Quarter Bundles, Jelly Roll Strips, Layer Cakes and Charm Square Packs
Precuts are great for quick projects and quilts as the cutting is already done for you!
These bundles are versatile for many types of sewing / quilting projects. They are also a great place to start if you would like to build your fabric stash, or get your hands on selection or all of the fabrics from a collection you love.
The prices of FQ bundles vary depending on how many pieces of fabric are included in each bundle.
Jelly Rolls / Strips - Also known as Roll-ups, Rollie Pollies, Design Rolls or Bali Pops, come in the form of 2½" x 42-44" strips. Honey Bun rolls are 40 x 1.5" strips.
Typically, Jelly Rolls come in a pack of 40 to 42 strips. They are perfect for binding, sashing, inner borders, stripy quilts, strip piecing, and many more.
Fat Eighths Bundles
A fat eighth bundle is made up of 23cm x 56xm (9" x 22") rectangles. Each rectangle is an eight of a yard. It is made by cutting a quarter of a yard in half on the fold.
These bundles are versatile for many types of sewing / quilting projects. They are also a great place to start if you would like to build your fabric stash, or get your hands on selection or all of the fabrics from a collection you love.

Layer Cakes
Layer Cakes are 10" squares and also usually come in a pack of 42 squares. They are great for designs that feature negative space, and they can be cut into smaller squares or rectangles.
Charm Squares
These are similar to Layer Cakes but are only 5" squares (Mini Charms are 2 1/2" squares. These also usually come in a pack of 42 squares. They are great for designs that feature negative space, and they can be cut into smaller squares or rectangles.
These precut squares are great place to start for makers that are new to quilting or hexie sewers.
1. Measure your precuts before you start working with them. This is especially important if you are combining precuts produced by different fabric companies.
2. Do not pre-wash precuts. Even if you always pre-wash your bolt cut fabrics you can make an exception for your precuts. It’s almost inevitable that washing, soaking or rinsing your precuts will cause them to fray, ravel, shrink and/or become distorted. Maybe add a 'colour catcher' when you wash your end project.
3. Measure and sew from the outer edge of the pinking on these precuts.
4. Think about how you will store your left over precuts. Keeping them in similar size containers will help you make sure you use them up on other projects.
